WHY IN THE WORLD ARE WE DOING THIS?
In August of 2018 I (Debbi) was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (that’s a fancy name for the most common type of breast cancer). As we went through the diagnosis process I was paralyzed with fear, but sometime between the last chemo treatment and the first radiation treatment something changed. I developed a thirst for living that I had never experienced before. Life isn’t guaranteed and I was gonna live it heartfully!
John and I talked and thought that a lot of other people are going through what we went through, or are just seeking encouragement to get out there and taste life, and thus the blog idea was born. I was really excited that John wanted to jump on board as well, it gives us something to work on together, which is always fun!
WHAT IS HEARTFULLY INSPIRED LIVING?
To us, it is a commitment to experience life with your whole heart. Making time for the people and things that you enjoy. Doing the thing that scares you, or just making time to do the things you’ve always wanted to do, but you get bogged down with everyday stuff and it gets pushed off. Embracing change and looking for the lessons in failure.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
Good question! To be honest, we’re just going to share a lot about the stuff we enjoy:
- Travel – We really enjoy traveling and are excited to share our experiences, past and present, with you!
- Food – I mean, who doesn’t love food, right? We’ll share information on restaurants as we travel, as well as our favorite recipes!
- Crafting/Making – Crafting is my therapy. I’m not the best maker out there (far from it) but I’ll share what I know and things I learn along the way!
- New Experiences – Part of my commitment to living heartfully is to get out there and TRY NEW THINGS! Ugh, so scary right? I’m not a risk taker and I prefer to stay in my comfort zone (where there are fewer germs and no crowds) but I can’t deny the cool things I experience when I am brave and try things I wouldn’t normally do!
- Wellness – Since my cancer diagnosis I’ve become hyper-aware of all the things in our day to day world that can contribute to what I will call “lack of wellness.” I aim to be somewhere in the middle of pure natural living and “driving-myself-crazy-because-there-is-so-much-information-and-everything is-bad-for-us” state of living. I’ll share what I am learning with you for you to take or leave. No pressure.
- Inspiration – In our fast paced world, life can seem a bit chaotic. In our Inspiration space we aim to share inspiring stories (ours and yours), quotes, etc. It will be a place to take a little “brain break” and just breathe. ♥
I think that’s about it! Our experiences won’t always be perfect (who makes a new craft or a recipe perfect all the time?) but it will be real, and it will be us, and we will learn from each experience. We hope you will join us on our journey to living heartfully that and it will inspire you to do the same.
Congratulations on the new blogging journey! I am so proud of you!
Thank you my friend! Sending you all the love. ♥

How wonderful to see this up and running! You are very inspiring, and I’m sure you will have lots to say to empower and encourage others. I have to say, though, that I’m REALLY partial to the pink hair….. so maybe now that you’ve got that new head of curls, you could just bring out the pink hair once in awhile for a bit of fun flair! heehehee Congratulations on the new blog – to both you and John.
Aw, thank you Connie! I was pretty partial to it too, who knows what Amanda color will talk me into now!
Looking forward to this! 🎉🎉🎉
